Thursday Things

As the summer weather is approaching quickly here in Texas, I am day dreaming about shoes. We kind of like to skip spring over here, but go ahead and pretend the 85 degree days are spring and anything over 90 degrees is summer. Regardless, that means that it is wedges and sandals season! It is my absolute favorite. I always find wearing wedges and sandals so easy. I don't feel the need to dress up with them on, but I can always do so if I choose too. Do you feel the same way? They just make everything cuter.
Loving this neutral wedge to go with everything.
Jessica Simpson Casie T-strap wedge.

GB Gianni Bini Wrap-It up platform wedges.
They also come in sandals if you like a flatter surface.
These are a cheap alternative from target, but
still are cute and I love the nautical look.

Happy Shopping!
Got any favorite wedges ?

Motivation

I'm thinking about turning wednesdays into motivation/encouragement days.

Wednesdays are mid-week for pretty much almost everybody, and it appears as the giant hill that seems impossible to get over.

My Wednesday challenge is this,

I've been trying to run, well really just workout pretty consistent. It is a daily struggle to get out the front door, but never regretted. However, that doesn't make it easy. So here is my motivation telling me to get my butt into gear because it will feel better afterwards.

Happy Wednesday.

Spring Cleaning

As I mentioned in the previous post, I did a little bit (more a lot) of spring cleaning. I emptied out my entire closet, which let me just tell you was not a pretty site and left two beds and one floor completely covered. My mom is super crafty in that she is capable of pretty much any handy work she puts her mind too.

I don't really have pictures from before but if you can imagine I had a regular white walls and blue carpet and things stacked under each rack of clothes, and not to mention the top of my closet was filled with 3 of my older sisters and my own dolls from childhood. So this new closet has been wonderful to walk into.

Never seen my closet this empty.

Finally have enough room for my dresses to fit
all on one side.

It is so nice to be able to see all my shoes finally.

Have you done any spring cleaning yet? It is not a fun job, but always worth it.

Spring break 2012.

I am always so sad to see spring break fly by as fast it does, but It is always a welcomed nice break and little tease for summertime.

My spring break was nothing short of relaxing, but the farthest from a normal crazy spring break.

How I spent my spring break:

Kiddos at the Great Wolf Lodge

Late night cruisin with the top down

Fro yo with my favorite topping, mango pearls

Finished product of the closet.

Sleepy baby.

Baby Madi.

Morning Run.

Afternoon grocery trip. front half  is boyfriends and everything
else is mine. Can you tell what is important for a boy's appetite .

-Lots and lots of shopping with mama. Damage done.
-Emptied and re-organized my closet completely, mom redid it with cedar, wood floor, and provided a much more organized space for my clothes, shoes, and purses.
-Had a girls night that included junk food burger eating, hot tubbing, wii black eye peas' dance, and good talks.
-enjoyed some quality time in grapevine with my favorite kiddos
-went for an amazing morning run on pavement. My feet against the pavement always has a way of making me feel twice as accomplished.
-Enjoyed saturday with a breakfast day with my boy, and ended the day at my new favorite restaurant on the river, went to a movie, and ended it with a late night cruise to yogolait for some a cup of my favorite fro-yo with the parents.
-Sunday was spent catching one last lunch with sister and her kids before they head back to Odessa, and then an afternoon grocery trip with T, which always feels like a lot more like an adventure than a grocery trip.

How did you spend your spring break if you had one? Relaxing or busy?

Happy Monday!

Wednesday Encouragement.

I ran across this great quote when watching the t.v. series friday night lights. Something about the desires that this person wants so bad, are things a lot of us have yet take for granted. I just wanted to share this little quote to inspire you and hopefully encourage you. Hope it gets you through to the rest of the week.

Two years ago, I was afraid of wanting anything.

I figured wanting would lead to trying and trying would lead to failure.

But now I find I can't stop wanting.

I want to fly somewhere on first class.

I want to travel to Europe on a business trip.

I want to get invited to the White House.

I want to learn about the world.

I want to surprise myself.

I want to be important.

I want to be the best person I can be.

I want to define myself instead of having others define me.

I want to win and have people be happy for me.

I want to lose and get over it.

I want to not be afraid of the unknown.

I want to grow up and be generous and big-hearted, the way people have been with me.

I want an interesting and surprising life.

It's not that I think I'm going to get all these things.

I just want the possibility of getting them.

eat your greens!

I always have some intense cravings for delicious food. T always says that my cravings know whats good! I usually can't clear the craving until it's in consumption. However, right now I have been craving veggies and ranch like crazy. I guess it's better that it's veggies than brownies and ice cream but still it really is weird for me. In the meantime bring on the mushrooms, tomatoes, and snap peas!

I'm on spring break so I'm spending the evening with a couple of girls. Excited for some hot tubbing and girl talk.

Hope everyone else's tuesday is wonderful!

Weekend in Instagram

1. Stayed at hotel in frisco with mama and we shopped for the weekend. Sported
my new stars and elevators tank. My friend designs a clothing line, check it out at www.starsandelevators.com
2. We also dipped into a few quaint coffee shops to try some specialty treats and coffee. That
cupcake was a Tres Leches. It was amazing!
3. Teavana. My favorite cup of youthberry tea.
4. Spring is calling my name, so I threw on a colored dress, boots, and showed my bare white legs.
5. Hung out with my boy. Always asking for as much time as possible with him.
6. Baked a puff pancake for breakfast and caught up on my blog reading from the weekend.
7. Ending my evening winding down, watching t.v. with those two furballs since it is storming outside.

Happy Monday!

What are you doing for spring break?

I keep getting asked this question, and while I feel my response is lame to them, I am quick and glad to say that I am spending it doing nothing and shopping with my mom.

If there is one thing I enjoy more than most things, It has to be moments with my mom. Maybe it's the fact I am the babygirl and I feel she cherishes the time with me just as much I do with her. Maybe it's that we have really gotten used to it being just us. With two sisters in two different cities, and one with a busy schedule, I am often left to be the only girl. It has been this way quite sometime now, but we've really grown accustomed to it (still always missing my sisters though.) So I look forward to every spring break where we take two or three days and escape off to Dallas, or Roundrock and we just shop and forget about any school or work plans. It is relaxing and really our specialty. Shopping with my mom is really our bonding time and I hope to never take it for granted but cherish it more with each time, and always hold the special time close to my heart.

So here's to two more classes standing between me and spring break. It felt weird to sit down tonight and really have nothing to do. I'm highly anticipating the week at home, it is always such a splendid little tease for summertime.

Happy Wednesday!

Breakfast Club Reunion

My very first year of college, I was told I needed to take this class that would help me discover my major. Little did I know, it was really where I would meet the majority of my college friends and pick my major. It was a tiny class of about 15-20 people with some really great married couple as the teachers. I attend a college of about 36,000 + students, so it is so easy to feel like you don't exist. This class made me feel like I really mattered and had a place, especially as a freshman. It sets you up to where you have paired courses with the people in your class, so on top of that one class, you also share 2 other courses with the entire group of people. Seeing this people every single day really helped me develop some solid friendships. We began as an awkward bunch with many different types of personalities and so the teachers labeled us the breakfast club. It has now been almost 2 years since that class, and we still have get togethers once in a blue moon. I love them all with my heart and am so thankful for that little class that brought us together. Tonight, we had a small reunion with the main group of us that continued to be friends at Fuzzy's. It was so wonderful and exciting to see where everyone is going with their lives. We were all so lost and confused on what to do, and I have to say it is the one place I didn't feel stupid saying "I'm an undecided major." The majority of us are now declared majors and minors, and on the path to graduation. It is exciting to watch people grow. So thankful to be a part of the breakfast club.

P.S. tomorrow is wednesday, My wish came true and this week is flying by!

In Love.

Absolutely in love, head over heals with this past weekend. It was not good camping weather and we pretty much spent the entire weekend in the rain, but it definitely didn't stop us from a good time. I spent most of saturday fishing all day, and shooting some guns here and there. I don't do camping very well but if I have a cabin,  I think I could make a really good camper as long as I'm allowed to bring an overpacked bag and allowed a shower before dinnertime. It was such a nice weekend to spend with my boys family. They always make me feel at home and welcome in as one of their own. I wouldn't trade it for the world. I didn't lose too much sleep this week which is making today much easier, however it seems time wants to move at a slow pace now that spring break is approaching. Hoping for some faster next few days then it can move slow all it wants. I am looking forward to a pause from school, and some quality time with my mom. Spring break has always been our prime shopping time. Hope everyone had a good weekend, and an even better monday to kick start this week.

What a cutie right? I can't get over it.

We took our time on the drive back between the rain, flat tire, and
roaming around Corsicana's pretty neighbor hood, but the view
of this lake had to be the best.

Drove in early this morning to school, and got to see the sunrise.

My favorite.

Monday was a good start to this week.

Weekend vacations are my new favorite.

TGIF

I am so thankful it's friday, mostly because I am that much closer to spring break next week. Even more so because I am heading out to a ranch about 3 hours away with my boyfriend and his family for a little weekend vacation. Unfortunately, it is supposed to rain the entire time, and even though it ruins the perfect camping weather, I am really looking forward to a weekend spent in cuddling and relaxing. Hoping to stay warm and get my mindset off of school (shouldn't be too hard).

On another note, I stumbled upon someones flckr feed and fell in love with Camryn Palaski's writing. It is so beautiful. Just wanted to leave you with a little insert I'm adoring. Something about the words gives the mental picture that allows you to feel it, see it, and smell it.

"The combination of words that you string together and wrap around my ears have been uttered before: The same inflection, eye contact, citrus flavored “lovely” and coffee roasted “forever.”
I want fresh-cut kisses and handpicked whispers, but I suppose everyone needs something to put in their travel mug."

Happy Friday! Enjoy your weekend!

Thursday Things

This week, I am loving all things from loft and jcrew of course! All the clothes are just screaming spring, which I thought was arriving but apparently texas has decided to bring big black rain clouds all over that thought. Looks like I'll get a lot of good use out of my rain boots!
This skirt is perfect from the texture, color, to the ribbon around the waist. Perfection.
From Loft.
Love the brightness and shape of this talitha blouse from jcrew.
If I was buying it, I'd pick up two, one in this vintage berry color, and another in wreath green.
A basic comfortable wedge is a necessity for spring and going into summer.
Liking the toms version over everything else right now just because of the simplicity.

Soft Pink linen shorts, comfy and cute.
From the Loft.

Too bad I'm not tan, because I am all over this neon yellow pencil skirt from Loft.

Happy Thursday, the weekend is beginning!

A little story

Just wanted to drop in with a little story.

In fifth grade there was a girl in my class who was new and she hung out with the same people I did and tried out for the cheerleading team with me. I really don't recall us being that close. However, one day she came to school and handed my the cutest ring (but it was about 3 times my size). I came home of course completely unaware that the ring was real gold and contained a diamond in the center of it. So of course, my mom had to do her mom thing and call the little girls mom to let her know about it. I think the other mom was trying to teach her little girl a lesson about how when you give something away, you don't ask for it back later or maybe something completely different. Needless to say, she told my mom that it was ok if I kept the ring. I don't remember what happened to the ring after that but a couple of months ago my mom decided to clean out her jewelry box and lo and behold there was the ring I received in 5th grade. The gold looked dingy, and the diamonds were not even clean enough to be noticed. So this past weekend I needed another ring sized down and an earring fixed, so me and mom headed over to the jewelry clinic. I brought along the ring, hoping they could do some serious damage control on it. Sure enough they were able to dip it in platinum, clean it up, and size it down. Now I have a beautiful, dainty diamond ring to place on my finger for those days I just need something extra shiny, or every other day.

I am pretty much drowning in school work, but thought this little story was fun to share about how a little treasure from years ago resurfaced and  made it's way back into my life.

Hope everyone is having a good week, does it feel like it's going by at a super speed pace or is it just me hoping for more time in my day to get more things done?

Happy Wednesday!

P.S. Tried to post this yesterday, but for some reason my computer did not want to upload my photos, apologies for the delay.
